How To Use At-Home Ketamine

Education for qualified new or existing patients using ketamine nasal spray or troches at home under provider guidance.

Troche basics

  • Ketamine troches are used sublingually under the tongue.
  • Avoid eating and use only clear liquids for 4 hours before use to minimize nausea risk unless your provider gives different instructions.
  • Place the troche under the tongue until fully dissolved. Hold the dissolved medication and saliva for at least 15 minutes before spitting it out if directed.
  • Have a trusted person with you when using the medication at home.

Nasal spray basics

  • Read the pharmacy instructions on the bottle before use.
  • Gently clear the nostrils, sit upright, tilt the head back slightly, and spray into one nostril at a time.
  • Sniff gently and massage the nostril to support absorption. Wait 5 minutes between sprays when more than one spray is prescribed.
  • Text 385-449-0565 if instructions are unclear or concerns come up.

Becoming an at-home patient

  • The first visit must be in person at the Sandy, Utah office.
  • Complete new patient forms, ketamine consent, and ketamine health questionnaire before scheduling.
  • Prescription evaluation cost is $275, plus the one-time $35 new patient fee when applicable.
  • Medication and shipping are separate from the appointment; medication commonly ranges from $45 to $65 through the pharmacy.
  • Follow-up appointments are required with the prescribing provider, commonly every 30 to 90 days based on medical judgment.
